FAQ

How many theaters would I need in order to get my money back?

It all depends on the length of your theatrical release.

If your film is going to be run for less then two weeks, one theater will suffice.

You will need at least two theaters if you plan to keep your film running for more than 2 weeks.

How much does Hollywood make in a year?

It costs about $100 million to make an average movie. You could make ten movies a month for a decade and still have enough money left to buy a small nation.

You would own your own island, with an airport, a power plant, a bank, a post office, a police force, a fire department, a school system, a hospital, a zoo, a sports stadium, a theater, and a cinema.

If that doesn't sound like fun, then you must be insane.

Do I have the right to start my own distribution firm?

No. Without being a distributor, you cannot legally establish a distribution company.

You can't distribute other peoples films but you have to adhere to certain rules.

You cannot charge different prices to different theaters. Additionally, fees cannot be charged to different customers.

You also can't sell your services to other companies.

Hollywood is famous for what?

It was easy. Because they were willing take risks and do something completely different, it became famous. They made films that people would recall for years.

They were also bold enough to try new ideas.

How many films does Hollywood make in a given year?

Hollywood studios produce about 3,000 films each year. Three thousand!

Hollywood spends billions advertising these films. They spend millions on their production. They also spend millions on marketing them. However, how many actually make it to the theaters?

The answer is probably around 200-300. What happens then to the 2,700+ remaining films? Many of the films are either directly-to-video released or left to collect dust in storage vaults.

However, not all of them are unavoidable. Some of them have been selected for distribution via Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu Plus, iTunes, Google Play, etc.

Hence why don't more of these films be released? Why aren’t they being shown in theaters instead? Because they are too expensive to make.

And if they were cheaper to produce, they'd be released into theaters.

That's where I come in. I'll help you find the best way for your film to be released in theaters.

I'll show you how to maximize your return on investment (ROI) and increase your chances of seeing your movie in theaters.

Because let's face it...

It can be hard to get your film into the theaters. The process is complex, lengthy and involves many legalities.

It could also be costly before you even start.

The time frame in which your film can be distributed is also very limited.

There's not enough time between the moment a film is completed and its theatrical debut.

It is made up of 2,711 stars that are embedded in the Hollywood Boulevard sidewalk. Each star represents someone who made motion pictures, television or radio, as well as music and other aspects of popular culture. There are currently 1,922 living persons listed on the HWOF.

You must first submit your name and address to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to become a member of HWOF. The Hollywood Department of Cultural Affairs then submits your information to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once you are approved, you will receive a certificate of eligibility that includes your name, date, residence, occupation, category, and other information. You also receive a bronze plaque with your name engraved on it. This plaque is attached directly to the concrete base, in front of designated stars.

A current HWOF member can nominate you for a star or if you have made significant contributions in movies, television or radio. A committee evaluates all nominations and then decides whether to approve them. If they do so, they send a message to the applicant's address explaining their decision. If the person accepts the nomination, he/she receives a second letter confirming acceptance. The applicant then pays $25 to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce, which forwards the money to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.

The department issues the Hollywood Chamber of commerce a check, payable to it. The check is sent to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays artists or organizations whose applications were accepted. The fee is then paid to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce at $12.50. The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs gets the rest.

Once the artist receives his/her star he/she will be eligible to be inducted into the HWOF. You must pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce the balance due to be included on the HWOF. The amount due will vary depending on how long ago you were nominated. If you were first honoured in 1990, then you would owe $15,000. You'd owe $10,000 if you were previously nominated in 1990.

To remove yourself from HWOF, contact the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. They will help you pay the remaining debt. They will remove you from the list.

Why can't we just choose a different street and not have stars all over?

The HWOF was not created to be a historical landmark. It is meant as a memorial to all who contributed to the history of film.

What happened to the stolen stars? The thieves took around 1,200 stars. Each star weighs between 250-300 lbs, so if you add up all the weight, that comes out to about 4 tons worth of stars!
