FAQ

How much does Hollywood make a year?

Producing a movie can cost around $100 million. If you produced ten movies per year for a decade you would have enough money to purchase a small country.

You would have your own island, including an airport, a power station, a bank and a post office.

If this sounds like it's not fun, then you might be insane.

What is the difference in a distributor and a producer?

A producer creates the movie. The distributor distributes the movie. Distributors and theaters are two options for producers to sell their movies. Distributors buy movies directly from producers. Distributors then sell the movies to theaters, cable networks, and streaming services.

Distributors need to negotiate with theater owners about where their movies will play. This could mean that certain theaters may charge more for a particular movie than others. Distributors with multiple theaters are a good choice if your movie needs to be seen by as many people.

Do I have the right to start my own distribution firm?

No. You cannot legally operate a distribution company without being a distributor.

You don't have to distribute films from other people, but you must still follow certain rules.

For example, you can't charge different prices to different theaters. You can't charge different fees for different customers.

Also, you can't offer your services to any other company.

Why did Hollywood become famous?

It was easy. It was because they were willing and able to take risks. They had the courage to make films that people would remember for years to come.

And they also had the courage to experiment with new ideas.
