How much does Hollywood make per year?
A movie takes around $100 million to create. You could make ten movies a month for a decade and still have enough money left to buy a small nation.

If that doesn’t sound like fun, you must be insane.
How much do actors get paid?
Pay for actors can range from $1 million to $100,000 per film, or less than $100,000 for independent films. Most actors receive around $10,000 - $20,000 per film. Many actors aren't paid. It depends on how successful they are. Some actors are successful and make millions. Others struggle to find work.
Why is it that so few independent films are ever released?
Indie filmmakers tend to assume that distributors will buy their films.
Because they are confident that the public will love their film, they believe distributors would be willing to buy it.
But this is rare. Distributors often benefit from independent filmmakers.
They employ tactics like delaying a movie's release until after awards season has ended.
They may delay the release of a low budget film until after summer blockbuster season begins.
Distributors will also attempt to keep movies away from viewers until they have spent hundreds of dollars on popcorn, tickets, or candy.
They don't want these profits to be lost.

How To
How to get a Hollywood Walk of Fame star
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce founded the Hollywood Walk of Fame, HWOF (Hollywood Walk of Fame) in 1960. The HWOF is located in Los Angeles at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard. It's made up of 2,711 stars, which are embedded in the sidewalk on Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents someone who made motion pictures, television or radio, as well as music and other aspects of popular culture. There are 1,922 individuals currently listed on HWOF.
To become a member of HWOF you will need to submit your name at the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. This submits your name then to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once you are approved, you will receive a certificate of eligibility that includes your name, date, residence, occupation, category, and other information. You also receive a bronze plaque with your name engraved on it. This plaque is attached directly to the concrete base, in front of designated stars.
You may apply to be a star if you are nominated by a HWOF member or if you make significant contributions to television, radio, TV, theatre, music or other forms of "popular culture". A committee reviews the nominations and determines whether they should be approved. If they do so, they send a message to the applicant's address explaining their decision. The second letter is sent to the applicant confirming acceptance of the nomination if the person accepts it. The applicant then pays $25 to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce, which forwards the money to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.
The department issues a cheque payable to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce. It then sends the check the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays the applicant or organization. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce pays half of the $12.50 fee to the artist or organization. The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs gets the rest.
Once the artist has received his/her star, he/she becomes eligible to be included in the HWOF. To be eligible to list on the HWOF you will need to pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce all outstanding balance. The amount due depends upon how many years ago your first nomination was. If you were first honoured in 1990, then you would owe $15,000. However, if you had been previously nominated in 1980, you would owe $10,000.
You can remove yourself from HWOF by contacting the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to pay the rest of your debt. They will remove you from the list.
How old do you have to be in order to receive a star on HWOF?
You must be at the least 18 year old to be nominated. To be eligible for a star, you must still be alive. After receiving a Star, one can still be Nominated for another star after ten Years.
What happens if I die before my star gets put up?
Nominating you can be done by family members. If there are no living relatives, then the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will place a memorial marker in front of the star.
Why don't people just use a different street instead of having stars all over the place?
The HWOF is not meant to be a historical monument. It honors those who made history through film.
What happened with the stars that were stolen? The thieves took approximately 1,200 stars. Each star weighs between 250 and 300 lbs. This makes it approximately 4 tons!
