How to get a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame
The Hollywood Walk of Fame (HWOF) was established in 1960 by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. The HWOF can be found at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, California. It consists of 2,711 stars embedded into the sidewalk along Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents a person who has contributed to television, radio, theatre, music, motion pictures, or any other aspect of popular culture. The HWOF currently has 1,922 listed living people.
To become a member of HWOF you will need to submit your name at the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. This submits your name then to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. After being approved, you will be issued a certificate stating your name, date and place of birth. It also includes information about your occupation, occupation and category. A bronze plaque with the name of your choice is included. This plaque will be attached to a base of concrete in front the designated star.
A current HWOF member can nominate you for a star or if you have made significant contributions in movies, television or radio. The nominations are evaluated by a committee, which then decides whether or not to approve them. If they do, they send a letter to the applicant's home address explaining their decision. You'd owe $10,000 if you were previously nominated in 1990.
You can remove yourself from HWOF by contacting the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to pay the rest of your debt. They will remove your name permanently from the HWOF list.
How old is one to be eligible for a HWOF Star?
